On the trail in Houston and Atlanta

This weekend I hit the campaign trail in Georgia and Texas, where I pledged that at the end of my first term as president we’ll close the teacher pay gap with the largest federal investment in teacher salaries in American history.

It was an important and special weekend for our campaign, and I wanted to send you some photos and share stories from the campaign trail:

On Saturday morning, we dropped in for a bite at the Breakfast Klub — a Houston classic that always has a line out the door. There, I had the privilege of meeting the inspiring group of history-making Black women judges who were elected last November.

From there, we headed to Texas Southern University, where nearly 2,500 Texans joined us to speak truth about the big challenges we face as a country.

It was then that I announced, as president I plan to make the largest federal investment in our teachers in American history.

For too long, we have been a country that pretends to care about public education but doesn’t pay our teachers what they deserve. Too many of our educators are working two or three jobs just to make ends meet.

That can — and will — change.

After an amazing day in Houston, we headed to Atlanta. Like the best Sundays, it started with attending service at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. The theme of today’s service was Youth Day — a chance to see the power of youth leadership guiding our communities and country toward hope and prosperity.

In the afternoon we rallied at the historic Morehouse College with an incredible 3,000 people — some traveling from as far as Tennessee and Florida. This crowd showed our campaign all kinds of love in Atlanta today.

I laid out what we can build together as a country and how we must restore truth, opportunity, and justice for all. That we are the ones we’ve been waiting for to make our America stronger.

The South is full of opportunity. In our campaign, we will compete everywhere, for every vote. That’s how we grow our party and win.

Thank you, as always, for everything you have done and will continue to do to power our campaign. I am so grateful for your support.

For The People,

— Kamala
