America is in pain right now
America is in pain right now, because George Floyd shouldn’t be dead. But he is dead, and Black blood stains the sidewalks of America.
We are talking about a mother’s child. People are in pain. We must listen.
It’s happening throughout our country, and it’s been happening for generations.
That’s why I went and marched peacefully with the protesters in Washington, DC yesterday. We all must do what we can to demand justice and accountability.
I stand with those protesting George Floyd’s murder and recognize the crucial importance of fighting police brutality, demanding racial justice, and dismantling the very systems that lead to these injustices.
So today, in solidarity with those protesting, I am asking for your help if you are able:
Breonna Taylor should still be alive today.
Ahmaud Arbery should still be alive today.
George Floyd should still be alive today.
The horrific killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery are not isolated incidents but the result of broader systemic racism in our country.
These protests will continue until those who murdered George Floyd are held accountable. So until then, the protestors on the front lines need our help.
In solidarity,
Kamala
